Exhibiting at the Goodwood Festival of Speed for the first time? Reach pole position with our tips…

Every year the Goodwood Festival of Speed (FoS) welcomes tens of thousands of guests to celebrate all things automotive.

Brands ranging from established vehicle manufactures through to car car specialists and even technology start-ups are among the usual that exhibit at the festival.

We’ve got a few tips to ensure you’re driving in the right direction when it comes to exhibiting at FoS…

Deliver an experience 🥳

The Goodwood Festival of Speed is unique. For the auto enthusiast, it provides a wonderland of rare and exotic motors to swoon over while it also caters for those just looking for a nice day out.

This means there’s significant competition when it comes to attracting delegates to engage with you or your brand – there’s only a limited number of hours in the day and you want them to invest theirs with you.

Your aim should be to provide an experience, a genuine and almost tangible feeling that lives long in the memory – unfortunately, brochures and flyers aren’t going to cut the mustard.

Racing simulators, on-stand exotic cars, discos, Ferris wheels, interactive competitions and even rollercoasters have been deployed at the Festival of Speed with great success. Whatever you do, make it memorable.

Plan early 📅

Time flies when you’re having fun... and before you know it, FoS is back with us!

From an exhibitor’s perspective and to ensure the experience is as seamless as possible, plan early. From writing the initial brief to engaging with an agency, do it as early as possible to minimise any friction.

The more time there is to prepare, the better the impact and potentially, the lower the costs.

When planning early, consider logistics too. Accommodation at nearby hotels is taken very early, meaning you’ll be looking at places like Southampton or Brighton with a sizeable train journey.

Invest in comfort 😎

As FoS takes place at the peak of summer, there’s a strong possibility of extremely hot weather which can either make the whole experience ideal or just a little uncomfortable.

Any brand looking to wow guests will use this as an opportunity to do just that…

If the weather is expected to be hot, provide shades, bottles of water, sun cream or even a place to hide from the sun.

On the contrary, if the weather is expected to be poor (it is England after all), provide umbrellas, ponchos or a place to charge a phone.

People like their creature comforts and FoS can be overwhelming as there’s SO MUCH to see - use this opportunity to wow.

Our final thought… 🤔

The Goodwood Festival of Speed is one of the UK’s most iconic events and it continues to attract huge audiences.
